The Irish Concertina Company was started by Sean Garvey & Vincent Woodhead back in 2008.

Before that time all Concertinas played in Ireland were imported. It has taken us a good few years to get teachers on our side and today 2024 we are firmly established.

A note from the maker Sean Garvey,

To explain how I ended up working with Concertina's I have to go back 25 years when I bought over a repair workshop in Waltons Music Shop in Nth Frederick St.

Having trained in instrument repair's in a London Workshop with Archie Mc Phearson at his Porabello Rd. shop I had returned to Dublin to set up my own business. To cut a long story short I brought this business back to my home in Walkinstown and started my All About Accordions business. This business was running well until the crash in 2007 and things went very quiet for a spell. Meantime my nephew was laid off work as a cabinet maker and together we decided to start work on making Concertinas. We spent month's in research and eventually went into production in 2008/9.

I have built up this business by building up trust with Teachers, Parents and Players and by standing over everything we have made. We are now a one stop shop from entry level / beginner to professional level concertinas.

In 2008 there was nobody in Ireland making concertinas and there was a lot of  very old Concertina's being sold into Ireland as the supply of affordable concertinas was limited. Since then we have made a difference and we now see customers coming back to upgrade having purchased entry level instruments and only in the past 4/5 years we are making instruments for Professional Players.

We were not an overnight success but as time has moved on we have more staff  and we are able to meet our orders in an acceptable time frame. Our goal is to make sure every one of our customers are happy with their instrument and more so, happy with their dealing's with us.

I will go to every effort to allow Parents time for teachers to give approval on the instrument and in turn this has brought Teachers back time and time again.

Today in 2022 Players no longer have to order online from America, Germany or England to get a Professional Hand Made Concertina and Player's in Ireland have a solid back up if ever they run into problem's.
